Finding Your Purpose: Navigating the Noise and Identifying What Truly Matters

How to find your purpose
Finding Your Purpose

Hey there! The world is always throwing messages at us, telling us how to act and make decisions. These messages come from all walks of life: family, friends, teachers, religious leaders, and cultural figures. All these folks have one thing in common: they're trying to give us advice on how to live our lives. Some advice might work for you, some might not. It's cool to listen to what they have to say. But hey, you got to figure out what advice to take and what to ignore.

With so many voices out there, it can be tough to know who you really are and what your purpose is in this world. For some clarity, ask yourself: “Who do I really want to be in this life?” If you're aiming to be successful, then go ahead and listen to the advice of successful people. But if your goal is to live authentically, then you need to learn to block out any advice that goes against that.

So, how do you find your purpose in a world full of noise? Here are some things to consider:

Stick to your values. Values like honesty, integrity, and courage might sound abstract, but they have real implications in your life.

  • When you live by your values, you show others what matters to you. You make choices, exercise your rights, and live with integrity. But hey, it's not always easy to know what your values should be.

  • To help you figure out your values, ask yourself two important questions:

  • What matters to me?

  • What are the consequences of my choices?

Recognize your strengths. Everyone's got something they're good at. Everyone has strengths – sometimes they're not so obvious to you. When others see your strengths, they can share them with you.

  • Many successful people credit early appreciation from others as a key to their success. And one thing's for sure: feeling grateful improves our relationships and boosts our well-being.

Understand how life should feel. When you're thinking about your purpose, start by asking yourself: How do I want my life to feel? Your purpose – how you want to feel – is what gets you out of bed every morning.

  • You should wake up feeling energized and excited about your day. That feeling tells you that you're on the right path.

  • If it's meaningful to you, you'll notice that you're energized and excited about it. The key to beating boredom? Finding meaning in your life.

  • Remember, even if you're doing something meaningful, there will be tough, boring, or discouraging days. That's normal in any career or life choice. But if you're on the right track, overall, you should feel like you're doing something worthwhile.

To live with purpose, face your fears and work towards your goals. Living with purpose means confronting your fears and turning them into strengths. Your fears might be areas for improvement.
  • Overcoming your fears is easier when you accept them as part of you and work on improving them. Once you conquer your weaknesses, you're much closer to reaching your life goals.

  • By living with purpose, you're more likely to focus on what you can do rather than what you can't.

Living with purpose is about living passionately and focusing on what matters most to you. Your purpose is what brings you joy and keeps you going. It's that feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself.

It doesn't matter what your purpose is, as long as you're willing to fight for it and take the necessary steps to make it real.
